How do you get gas prices down was a question asked?
Ask yourself the following: 1. Who voted for a gas tax increase? 2. Which party is against building new refineries? 3. Which party is beholden to environmentalist groups? 4. Which party does not want to drill in Alaska? 5. Which party is 100% sold on global warming? 6. Which party is opposed to offshore drilling in our own waters?
There's a start. Unfortunately nationally none of this is going to change because McCain is pretty liberal and Obama and Clinton....well they aren't going to solve the problem. See #2 through #6.
If McCain were to win, the US Senate and US House are going to have to win alot of seats to put pressure on McCain to take real steps to solving this issue. Put it this way, the less we import, the cheaper oil will be. Plain and simple. Right now OPEC can name their price and what can we do about it? Nothing. We have no other resources.
The answer is vote McCain and vote for every freaking conservative you can. I don't mean Republican, I mean conservative. Some folks are using the R behind their name, but really are very liberal. Those folks won't help solve this problem.
Don't get me wrong, simply drilling and drilling is not the total answer. We are taking some right steps by increasing fuel economy in cars and even trucks, but that does not solve the entire problem.
How about those folks in St. Paul. Gas might get to $4.00 and those people voted to increase it even higher.

Last oil refinery was built over 30 years ago. That was back in the late 70's. How many more cars are on the road than in 1978? I have no idea, but I think a whole bunch more. With that said we are using more oil for gas. Yet we have the same amount of refineries today as we did 30 years ago? More refineries means that we can turn around oil into gas much quicker make the supply chain flow faster, which in turn would drop prices. Basic economics 101, supply and demand. Economics 101 referring to supply and demand, if we have our own oil, our supply is greater. When there is more supply, prices go down. A certain party and some on the other side are so beholden to environmental groups and are afraid of what the drive by media will say about them, these people don't want us to drill anywhere on or near US Land and they don't want more refineries. In a nutshell, I'm no expert, but it would seem to me that if we had more oil and more plants to refine it into gasoline, prices would come down. Seems logical. Another interesting point from the following article, is that e-85 is causing oil companies to think differently. Although they need government approval to build a refinery, according to this article, they don't see it as cost effective because of e-85. By the way, if you don't believe in global warming, e-85 is a joke. If you do believe in it, then it's a good thing. NO PUT PUT's here!!! The gas prices between Breezy Point to Lake Cumberland, KY where with in a nickle. If our gas tax is raised so be it after the roads I just traveled, I will pay the tax because those states roads suck ---!!! While prefishing I did and will drive to the nearest access to where I wanting to prefish but the gas prices wont stop me from running to my fish. We ran 100-130mi round trip during the three days on Cumberland, which with that Merc 225 Pro XS was about 20 gal. give or take. Prices suck but you gotta pay to play. Like Jim and I said last year, guys better put there game faces on and cash some checks Tight Lines, B

Bill, Maybe in sconi it's different. here the roads are funded through the gas tax. Very little $ is from the general fund. Don't try and skew facts to get a point accross.
and here's a # for you to call to ask questions before u go off on this reply. It's for the D3A MN/Dot office. I'm sure they can hook you up with someone to explain funding. (218) 828-5700

I could be wrong on my last post on some or all of it. It's always more fun to talk before doing any research....

Dumped my posts not because I'm backing down from what I said or the facts from state web sites that I posted, but because it may come across as bickering, and that's not right. Plus I don't want it to get to page 4.
