I was waiting for somebody to make that suggestion. That is one option. Another option is to fight back on this or another option is to take it in the shorts and ask the state how much do you want?
I actually thought about the moving thing yesterday when this came down because I know an income tax increase is also on it's way. Hopefully it won't get passed. If I didn't have a child and and the income tax increase does happen, I would seriously consider it.
Some people will be moving because at this pace, it costs businesses too much money to Headquarter in Minnesota and for those who make incomes around $300,000, it costs them $25,000 more per year to live in Minnesota than it does to say live in Florida. If the state wants people to move and businesses to move out, just keep raising taxes.
Think if the Delta/Northwest deal went through, Delta would HQ here? Not a chance. Loss of 11,000 jobs. Why wouldn't they HQ here? Taxes, plain and simple.
Is it Citibank that is HQ'd in South Dakota? One of the major credit card/banking institutions is. Why aren't they here? There are more people here for their employment pool and there are more things to do here than in Sioux Falls. Reason they aren't here, taxes.
At some point this is going to catch up to Minnesota. Why do so many people live in Wisconsin and commute to the Twin Cities for work? Taxes.
Why do people stay? Because most of us have lived here most of our lives and there is a comfort factor in that. Many of us have family and friends that we don't want to leave. We have over 10,000 lakes and great scenery not to mention the north shore. Some have been relocated here for work. So we stay, but that doesn't mean those who oppose government socialism and distribution of wealth (which is socialism) should just sit and take it and it doesn't mean the first answer is to move.

Bill , I think you should teach typing classes to offset the tax increase . It would take me 3 hours to write your last two posts. plus another couple of hours for the research you do .I'll be your first student . how much per session .
Don't stay up late and lose sleep over this it will affect your fishing . whats done is done . save some energy for the bass.

Research is easy. www.ask.com. Typing took it in high school. Can't teach typing classes. I would charge you a bag of craw tubes if I did. I'm done on my soap box.....unless somebody makes a case that my facts are incorrect and I'll either admit the error or back up my research. Happy pumping.

Given it thought, but have to uproot my kid out of school, leave family and friends, sell 3 businesses and then have to find something to do down there. Subway's in Florida on average do less sales than the ones in Minnesota. Basically because most of them are outdated, in lousy locations (visibility, parking) and are dirty. If somebody down there wanted to trade stores with equal volume for mine and move to Minnesota, would have to consider very closely. Not an easy move any way you slice it.

We could meet at Riverside for a pop, jump in an innertube, float the Pine River to Big Pine and weigh in at the rock dam...sounds like fun (unless they shut the dam down.

Heard on the news tonite .AAA says $4 a gallon gas is not out of the question . Who do we vote for in November to fix that.
Canoe Tourny might be one way to fix it but we could never get the Livewells to work right. Wouldnt matter anyway . Tuma would find away to put a 100hp on his and beat us all to the spot anyway.

Let's see... I'm driving up from Shakopee to Cross Lake. That's exactly 340 miles round trip. I get a whopping 12MPG with the Titan when pulling my boat with a tail wind. That's about 28 gallons of gas, or $112. I don't get in trouble for that, because Mrs. Fishwrench and the children are with me.
Then I have to fill the boat...50gals if I don't prefish too hard. That's $200. If I drop another $100 pulling the kids on a tube, I'm still OK.
Membership fee, single event entry fee, big bass...Call it $100 or somewhere in there. I'm in this for $400-$425 for a shot at $1475. I don't know...sort of looks like I'm pot commited at that point; problem is I'm drawing dead against a straight flush and sitting on an unsuited 2-5. But still, I'm pot commited...no turning back now.
Funny, Mrs. Wood (er, I mean Mrs. Fishwrench) buys that excuse either. I'm dead.

It's going to be a real expensive year to fish for sure. All we can do is hope this is a year where we are on a winning streak.
