Would like to get some feedback on the Pots were currently offering and a new option were considering. In stead of our current pots: $10 Big Bass and $20 Big Bucks we are entertaining another option. Option: Each event will have a 25.00 optional side pot to be paid back 100% that will pay, 15.00 per entrant in side pot to big bass of tournament, 5.00 to 2nd big bass of tournament, 2.50 for lucky 13th and 2.50 for mystery weight. Thoughts?

I realize the concept of this idea, however two of the portions of the segment are lottery payouts. In other words, has nothing to do with ability or how the day went, just absolute 100% luck.
Lucky 13th gets money: So the guy who finishes one spot out and let's say beats #13 by 2 pounds gets $0 but the guy who caught 2 less pounds gets money. Don't like it.
Then the mystery weight. Same argument only this one is subjective unless you announce the weight at the tournament meeting before we take off. Otherwise it's 100% luck again.
Sure you need some luck in fishing, but I don't think people should be rewarded for not doing as well as somebody else.
What would make more sense is take the extra pot dollars and go $10 for big bass, $5 for second big bass and take the other $10 and put it into the overall pot and maybe pay another place down or just put it into the big bucks pot.
With that said, I think you should leave it how it is and has been. $20 big bucks, $10 big bass. If you want to encourage more participation in the side pots maybe do this.
$10 big bass: $7 for big bass and $3 for second biggest bass.
$20 big bucks: $10 for 1st place in pot, $6 for 2nd place in pot and $4 for 3rd place in pot.

Joel, you asked for our thoughts.
I like it the way it is. It gives people lots of options. I wouldn't mind adding a 2nd optional Big Bass pot for 5 dollars (the price of a Subway footlong).
I don't mind the idea of a pure luck pot for someone out of the money, but I don't know how many others might want to contribute to such a lottery approach.
Has any thought been given to getting our "Host Site" involved. Maybe an Ernie's or a Driftwood would be interested in having a drawing for a gift certificate for those who purchased a drink/meal after the tourney. It's in their own interest (and EXCEL's) to encourage fishermen to stick around and spend money at the host site.

I think it should stay the way it is. Big bass is anyone's chance to win. Big bag goes to the most skilled.

I'm with Arnie on this one . I like it the way it is . Only change for big bucks maybe is take and split it . $15 to the first guy thats in it and maybe $5 to the second . Leave big bass the way it is as a seperate pot not included in the entry.

I agree leave the side pots the way they are. If you would like to add one for a certain place or weight that is fine, but don't go over board. I am all for the $100 entry fees but now do you ask for more for this side pot or take it out of the entry.
