We're getting in most of our permits....just waiting on a few more to finalize our 09 schedule. We're getting a few strange conditions....here's one: No use of "Golf Balls" marking beds??? I don't do allot of bed fishing....but I've seen a ton of beds over the years....never ever seen a golf ball on one. Has anyone seen golf balls marking beds up here? Here's another...for Whitefish Must redistribute all Smallmouth bass caught into Trout. I guess Trout doesn't have enough Smallmouth Bass in it anymore. Here's another.....for Gull this time Count the number of bass taken above the hwy 77 bridge and report findings. Stay tuned for more crazy conditions...... fyi- the 08 leg. didn't get past(yet)mandating the 50% parking rule. Looks like we got another years reprieve.

You need to get out of the pads once in awhile...for the past few years on Whitefish and Gull...one could collect plenty of golf balls. It is too bad as this type of activity impacts the image of many and is created by few. Buying a better GPS may be the answer... In either case, it is occurring on our local lakes.

I was wondering why Top Flight was such a hot selling item at my local tackle shop.

Guys, you all know I've seen "a few" beds on Whitefish and other lakes. I don't think I've seen golf balls since about 4 years back when some idiot did it on Trout. Fact is, I can take you to Trout and show you a lot of golf balls. None on beds, and all within driving range of one dock. There's one jackass cabin/home owner that cracks them into the lake. This year was a smallmouth apocalypse when it came down to them all spawning at once. How many of you saw golf balls? I need to call the regional manager and re-invite him to come to Whitefish with me. It would give him a reason to buy a fishing license for a change. Eric

it should be amended to read: "use of golf balls is prohibited unless the golf ball is a Pro-V1X"
then I can pick them.

Eric,
While I agree, things have lessened in the "golf ball" marking...I heard it from the horses mouth or in some cases the horses ass...
I am glad that they have limited the use and it is harder for others to find all of those beds...

By the way, it is said that a smallmouth will swim miles to return to home (proven through tagging) and a large mouth will just adapt to the new area and play dumb. This may be a better study to tag a few and see if they make there way from a weigh-in site to a know area they were caught. Of course this would take participation, heck...it does not have to be a tournament... My only concern is who has the tracking device after the tagging.

Hilarious! We must seek the governments permission to fish a tournament and get a piece of paper that says we can. Then and in most cases, a fee has to be sent to the government. Then after paying the fee, they would like you to provide them information that they could acquire themselves by having interns sit at ramps and ask these same questions to anglers.
