Here's one for your guys.....I was fishing with a co-angler a couple of weeks ago and the lighting was getting close.....I stay close to the shore in a back cove but my co insisted to go into the middle of the lake and sit out the storm. He said he has read several articles on why you should go to the middle of the lake instead of shore when lightning is present. I stayed put.....your not going to see me in the middle of the lake during a lighting storm. I may not be the brightest bulb in the pack but common sense tells me to get off the lake. Any feedback or hard facts on this?

I have had a few times on my motorcycle scare the crap out of me, similar to a boat there are only so many places to duck off the hi-way on a bike (the whole rubber insolated tire thing doesnt do much on a bike).
I watched a 2 foot hunk of asphalt fly out of the road right in front of me in Oklahoma once!... NFG.
As far as the boat I always run for shore, or close to it anyway.
Joel, from the sounds of your partner that day, he may have been looking for some lightning for a little pick-me-up...?

Get off the freaking lake. Paul was my co-angler in the BASS series and we watched the lightning closely and I always had a plan of where I was going to bail out if we needed to. Think ahead and where you might go, the closer the better. Tie the boat up and get off the freaking water.
