For what it's worth: I used to fish the Red Man circuit (BFL) they had 2 MN events and 4 on the River. The river guys loved coming here to fish lakes because the river was a lot tougher then. But, they stopped because of permits, and just went to the river. That came from the horse's butt (Ray) that ran them. We know it's not a big deal, but the national organizations don't want to have to be bothered with extra paperwork. So, I kind of doubt they'll want to come back.

Any buzz at the Tonka event re: reasons for pulling out?

The question was asked why are you pulling out and Wells fell back on the permit fees. This person then told Wells that last year Roy took a show of hands who would pay the extra to cover the permit fees and a vast majority raised their hands in support. Wells then went onto talk about we need to get government on our side and eliminate the permit hassles.
He later then said you'll love going to Kentucky as you won't have to drop any money in a box there to use the public ramps. I wonder which ramp Wells launched at where he had to pay? Corp of engineers on Crosslake? That would seem odd as it is quite the distance to drive that release boat to Driftwood.
During the actual meeting he said 80% of Wisconsin is in for next year and he said stick with us next year and he said he'll do everything he can to get us back on the lakes we want to fish. That statement drew pretty much blank stares.

I am. Leave Saturday the 11th. Taking 2 days to drive there as opposed to driving 14 hours in one day and being dog tired the first day of practice. You going Arnie?

There are four and maybe five going from Grand Rapids. Me, Greg Petersen, Craig Pierce, Mike Sundburg and possibly one more. We are leaving EARLY Sunday morning and will be on the water Monday. We are staying at Gingerwood Lodges which is about 2 1/2 miles from the take off site. Arnie

Did I miss something? Go to www.abaproam.com and it's as if the Tonka tournament never happened, other than just on the Minnesota page. No picture of Capra, no mention of Capra. See the list of $5,000 winners on the right? No Capra. See the articles or recent divisional championship winners? No Capra. Gee Mr. Wells, were we not nice enough to you at Tonka? I guess even ABA can see that Minnesota is probably not going to support their river trick. Also, now I can't get an answer from ABA whether they received my regional entry information, which was faxed over a week ago. Conspiracy. Probably not. But it is odd.

I would certainly confirm the event is still a go up until the day you leave...and then I'd keep calling on the way down. You never know with these guys....

Guys/gals if you are going to Kentucky, I suggest that you call ABA to make sure you are registered and you don't wait for the infamous mailing they say is coming on the registration form. I personally talked to somebody at ABA and she had zero clue when the mailing was going out. I said, you have no idea and she replied, I have no idea sir.

Good to hear. Problem is they said they were mailing out confirmations and further information. Nothing as of Wednesday's mail.

Has Kentucky always been a part of our region? Talk about home field advantage. Going to have to pull one out of the hat I guess. Arnie

Ky anglers are not in this region. Minnesota, Wisconsin, Ohio, Indiana and Arkansas. Indiana and Ohio will have the advantage.
